There is a new necessity to have a review of the history of Israel as told by Josephus and the texts from the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Church Fathers. All denominations are currently losing their way because the Holy Spirit/Shekinah Glory is being grieved due to a lack of study in what "proofs" there are from the ancient writers as well as ancient archaelogical finds can show.
Werner Keller's the Bible as History is an excellent stsrt... but read the Apocryphal Maccabees books as well to see how the Resurrection as described by the new testament was not unique to the 12 and those who followed after,

I will provide some of these important texts in my version, as most are in copyright form. I will note the best rendering as the H.S. leads me, but be warned.... Jude's letter gives us some idea of what constitutes proper orthodox teaching. So, don't take my word for it. Do as Hillel the Rabbi said while standing on one foot..."love God with all you got, your neighbour as yourself, the rest is commentary... therefore study. (As Iremember it being told.)
